Back in the 1960s, a few families crowded into a living room in Grand Island with a simple hope: let’s trust God and see what He does. No fancy plans. No fancy building. Just a small group of people who believed Jesus could change lives and that He might start with theirs. That little spark became Third City Christian Church.
Over the years, we’ve watched God take those humble beginnings and do more than anyone in that living room could’ve pictured. Thousands of lives have been touched, families restored, faith renewed, and our community strengthened, not because of anything flashy, but because God keeps showing up.
Our heart has stayed the same: meet people where they’re at, care for the hurting, and point everyone we can to the hope of Jesus. Whether someone walks through our doors for the first time or has been here for decades, we want them to know they matter to God and to us.
And we’re convinced God isn’t done moving. Not even close.
He’s pushing us to grow, to stretch, to dream a little bigger, and to step into the kind of faith that impacts homes, neighborhoods, and corners of the world we haven’t even reached yet.
This season feels different.
We sense God inviting us to partner with Him in new ways, to step into generosity with open hands, and to join Him in the work He’s already doing. Our prayer is simple: that every person who calls Third City home would say yes to the vision God has placed before our church and learn to live lives that overflow with His love and generosity.
BROKEN BOW PROJECT
Back in 2018, a church family in Broken Bow reached out to Nebraska Christian College looking for direction on how they could thrive as a church in Custer County. Through God’s provision and guidance, that church, formerly First Christian Church, began prayerfully considering what it might look like to become part of the Third City family.
In late 2019, Third City Broken Bow held its first services. What was once a church on the verge closing its doors has now become one of the fastest-growing churches in Nebraska, experiencing 46% growth in 2025. Because of this growth, we see a clear need to make more room in Broken Bow. As part of the Overflow Campaign, we hope to add 50–100 seats by expanding the Worship Center. We’re also exploring creative ways to update the building with better traffic flow, more visible entrances, and additional parking.
All of this is happening because God has been moving in a powerful way in Broken Bow.
Commitments from the Broken Bow campus will also help move us closer to becoming self-sustaining in ministry expenses, allowing the campus to support staffing and facility needs as the church continues to grow.
The Overflow project in Broken Bow is ultimately about one thing: making more room for people in the area to experience Christ’s LOVE• unlimited!

A Note From Dan
Dear Third City Family,
For nearly 60 years, Third City Christian Church has stepped boldly into what God is doing next. From gathering in a home, to building our first property, this church has always had the heart to do whatever it takes to pull up another chair.
Angela and I felt that the first time we walked through the doors in 1994. Newly married and new to the area, we were welcomed into a community that quickly became family. Their love for God overflowed into love for people, and God has been using that spirit to change lives ever since.
Paul’s prayer in 1 Thessalonians 3:12 captures our hope today: “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else.” Overflow is more than a campaign. It is a commitment to live with gratitude, generosity, and purpose, trusting God to multiply what we give to reach more people.
May we always be known as the church that pulls up another chair.
