Out of the overflow of God’s unlimited love, our lives overflow to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Back in the 1960s, a few families crowded into a living room in Grand Island with a simple hope: let’s trust God and see what He does. No fancy plans. No fancy building. Just a small group of people who believed Jesus could change lives—and that He might start with theirs. That little spark became Third City Christian Church.

Over the years, we’ve watched God take those humble beginnings and do more than anyone in that living room could’ve pictured. Thousands of lives have been touched, families restored, faith renewed, and our community strengthened—not because of anything flashy, but because God keeps showing up.

Our heart has stayed the same: meet people where they’re at, care for the hurting, and point everyone we can to the hope of Jesus. Whether someone walks through our doors for the first time or has been here for decades, we want them to know they matter—to God and to us.

And we’re convinced God isn’t done moving. Not even close.

He’s pushing us to grow, to stretch, to dream a little bigger, and to step into the kind of faith that impacts homes, neighborhoods, and corners of the world we haven’t even reached yet.

This season feels different—in a good way.

We sense God inviting us to partner with Him in new ways, to step into generosity with open hands, and to join Him in the work He’s already doing. Our prayer is simple: that every person who calls Third City home would lean in and help carry the mission forward as God continues to build His Kingdom right here in Central Nebraska and beyond.

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else.
— 1 Thessalonians 3:12

A Note From Dan

Dear Third City Family,

For almost 60 years, Third City Christian Church has been a people willing to step boldly into God’s next best thing. From a couple who opened their home for Sunday gatherings in those early years, to the handful who sacrificially gave to build our first property, this church has always carried a spirit that says, “We’ll do whatever it takes to pull up another chair.”

Angela and I saw that heart the very first time we walked through the doors back in 1994. We were newly married, new to the area, and knew no one. But we were immediately welcomed by people who would become our people for life—people whose love for God naturally overflowed into love for others. It’s no surprise that a church like that has continued to grow and impact lives.

Paul’s prayer in 1 Thessalonians 3:12 captures this beautifully: “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else.”

That’s what we long to see happen again—and even more. Because we’ve been loved so completely by Jesus, we can’t help but let that love overflow into the world around us. We want our friends, families, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers to experience that same life-changing, LOVE unlimited.

Overflow is more than a capital campaign. It’s a spiritual commitment to live wholeheartedly—to grow in gratitude, purpose, compassion, and generosity. Together, we’re choosing to live from the overflow of God’s love, trusting Him to multiply what we give and to use it to reach more people than ever before.

Imagine what could happen if an entire church family lived that way— loved people, loving people.

May we always be known as the church that does whatever it takes to pull up another chair.

THE NEXT GEN

Declaring God’s Power to the Next Generation (Psalm 78:4)

“It’s not just a building. It’s a place where the next generation is going to meet Jesus. These new spaces—the worship center, the kids and student areas—this is where our kids and students are going to make some of the biggest decisions of their lives.

As a dad, that hits me. My kid—and other people’s kids—are going to walk into these rooms and hear about Jesus. They’re going to worship, get baptized, find mentors, and build friendships that shape their future.

And if I can use what God’s put in my hands—my time, my money, my sweat—to help build a space that leads someone to Jesus? I’m doing it.

I’m not giving to a building. I’m investing in the future. I’m investing in my kid. I’m investing in our city. I’m all in.”

THE NEXT ONE

Reaching the ones that Jesus died to save (John 3:16)

“It’s about the people right in front of us—the folks we live next to, the family we go home to, the friends we’ve known for years. A lot of them are carrying heavy things, and they need the hope of Jesus more than they even realize.

For me, that hits close. I think about my own family, my buddies at work, the neighbors I wave to every day. If they’re ever going to hear about Jesus, it’s probably not going to be because they walked into a church one Sunday. It’s because someone they trust showed up, listened, cared, and wasn’t afraid to talk about the hope they’ve found.

If God can use what I’ve got—my time, my hands, my paycheck, my conversations—to point someone toward Him, then that’s worth giving myself to.

This isn’t about supporting a project. It’s about investing in people and doing my part right where God’s planted me.”
