THERE IS AN ENEMY
Week 5
Please take some extra time to pray for your group members this week. Remember, we are praying for you. If you are feeling nervous about this week, we want to remind you of this prayer from Paul in Ephesians 3:14-21:
"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together will all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
Strongholds Discussions:
Read pages 98-105 of the facilitator's guide to help you understand the breaking of strongholds.
It's important to explain to your group what strongholds are.
It's sin that has taken root and made its home in your life. It's where Satan and our flesh work together to create a destructive pattern in our life.
Divide up men and women (if applicable) and leave a lot of time for this! At least an hour to an hour and a half.
Discourage your group from jumping in to give advice. We are not here to fix each other, but to allow the Holy Spirit to do His work.
Good Scriptures to read to your group as you begin: 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, Ephesians 6:10-18, and John 16:33.
Share your stronghold first.
Then choose someone to share next. After sharing, ask the individual, "what truth can replace this stronghold?"
After they have shared, pray over that person and invite at least one other person to pray for them as well.
Have someone pray for you at the very end.
Remind your group that they have the power to live in freedom, but this is only the first step. Read 1 Peter 1:3-9 to end the evening.
Pass out bookmarks to your group. (Make sure to get these before your Week 5 meeting from the church)
