Week 6

His People-Washed in His blood

What does it mean to be God’s People?  Revelation 7 gives a picture of what God’s people will be doing one Glorious Day.  Every one of us, regardless of race, gender, and nation will be standing before the Lamb, praising and heaping honor and glory on Him!

One of the ways we set ourselves apart as God’s people is by serving Him.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 25 that when we serve others, we are doing it for Him.

We will be dressed in robes, which have been made white through washing in the blood of the Lamb.  We will be pure, no longer contaminated by sin.

We must be proactive in remembering what Jesus did in order to purify us.  Jesus told His disciples, and through them, us, to remember His sacrifice by observing the Lord’s Supper.  When we eat the bread and drink the cup, we testify of His death and resurrection as we wait for Him to return.

Revelation 7 also tells us what we can expect from God, as His people.  We will be protected and fed.  We will never be thirsty again.  He will comfort us and provide for us.

We are so lucky to be called His people!

Day 1

Worship in Service

Read Revelation 6:15-7: 8

The passage describes the sealing of 144,000 servants of the Lord.

  1. God stops for a moment before releasing His wrath, why?  What is the purpose of the seal?  Do these servants go through God’s wrath?
  2. How does God protect His servants today?  Does God’s protection prevent bad things from happening or bear us through bad things?
  3. Is it easier to worship God knowing that He protects you through trials?

Day 2

Worship in Service

Read Matthew 25:31-46

This passage describes how God responds to those who serve.

  1. In this passage, what act separates the people in the two groups that God divided people into?  How do the righteous respond to their reward?  Do they think they deserve it?  How do the others respond?  Do they think they deserve their punishment?
  2. In other passages, like Matt 7:22-23, the others try argue that they served or worshiped God.  Does serving or worshiping God matter if you do not love others?

Day 3

Worship of the Church

Read Revelation 7:9-10

This passage describes more worship of the Lamb.

  1. Who is this group of people?  What do all these people have that is the same?  What differences are?
  2. What are these people dong?  What thing about god are they worshiping?

Day 4

Worship of Leaders

This passage describes more worship of the Lamb.

  1. Who is worshiping God now?  What does this group represent?
  2. What qualities do you look for in leaders?  What do these leaders worship God for?
  3. Is the worship of the leaders the same as that of the Church?  How is/isn’t it the same?

Day 5

Requirement to Worship

Read Revelation 7:13-14

This passage sets forth a requirement for worship.

  1. Recall the Church worshiping in verses 9 & 10.  What were they wearing?  According to verse 14, how did they get the white robes?
  2. Have you washed in the blood?

Day 6

Communion

Read I Corinthians 11:23-26

This passage tells us of the Lord’s Supper.

  1. We do the Lord’s Supper every week in worship, how is this worship?  What pictures does Communion bring to your mind?
  2. We are reminded of the two purposes of Communion in verse 26.  What are they?  Why do we proclaim Jesus’ death?  Why do we need to remember His return?

Day 7

This passage continues to tell us about the Worship of the Church.
